About Us


Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (AKA), Incorporated is an International service organization founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908.  AKA is the oldest Greek-letter organization that was established by African-American college educated women.

Chartered on June 7, 2014 in Stafford, Virginia, the Psi Psi Omega (PPO) Chapter of AKA, maintains a rich legacy of serving the Counties of Stafford and Fauquier, Virginia. PPO operates in the Marvelous Mid-Atlantic AKA Region.  Our membership is comprised of dedicated, visionary women who are committed to serve.

Our mission is to meet and fulfill the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. We strive to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards; promote unity and friendship among college women; alleviate problems concerning girls and women; maintain a progressive interest in college life; and to provide service to all mankind. The mission will be met by implementing programs and projects that will support the international programs set forth by the International President of the sorority.

Psi Psi Omega Chapter's vision is created from the years of service provided by our members, and their shared desire to keep Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. supreme in service. As active community members in Stafford and Fauquier counties and the surrounding areas, Psi Psi Omega aim to be an integral community asset. Psi Psi Omega is striving to implement programs that are purposeful, socially significant and exemplify the organization’s signature program and initiatives.

Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson is the current International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated from 2014-2018. It is under her leadership, that the national theme of "Launching New Dimensions of Service" is implemented.  The program targets that we will implement are educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership and global impact.
