Scholarships

2024 Scholarship Applications Now Open

Deadline to Apply: Friday, April 5, 2024

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Psi Psi Omega Chapter, will award one-time scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who attend school in Stafford or Fauquier County and continuing college students from Stafford or Fauquier County. Eligible students must be a United States citizen who plan to attend a vocational school, community college, or an accredited college or university as a full-time student. 
 

Applications can be submitted online (below), by email, or mailed. Applications must be submitted or postmarked (if mailed) no later than Friday, April 5, 2024.

 

Scholarship award recipients will be notified in early May.

Graduates

 Service Leadership Scholarship

  1. Scholarship awarded to (1) one student that have demonstrated innovative leadership in or out of school impacting her/him academically and/or have done extraordinary community service to help strengthen their community. This work may deal with social issues, civic issues, address health or environmental concerns, or promote arts and humanities. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale).

  2. The applicant must provide letters of recommendation and must complete a 450-500 word essay.  

Aspiring HBCU Scholarship

  1.  Scholarship awarded to (1) one student with a cumulative 3.00 GPA or higher (on a 4.00 scale) who will attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and has demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities.

  2. The applicant must provide letters of recommendation and complete a 450-500 word essay.

Vocational/Community College Scholarship

  1. Scholarship awarded to (1) one high school or continuing college student who will attend or is currently enrolled in a vocational school, trade school, or community college in the United States.

  2. The applicant must complete a 250-word essay. 

 Continuing College Student Scholarship

  1. Scholarship awarded to (1) one continuing college student who is currently attending an accredited college or university in the United States. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) .

  2. The applicant must complete a 500-word essay.

Art Scholarship 

  1. Scholarship is awarded to (1) one high school senior who has declared a major
    in the Arts.

  2. Student must have a minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA (on a 4.00 scale), and be pursuing a major and a career in the Arts.
